Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, has urged Nigerians to protect, promote and sustain their cultural heritage for the upcoming generation and to promote peace in the society.
This, he said is also to prevent their culture from going into extinction.
The Speaker made the call during the Eggon traditional wedding popularly called Ebiekpen of his daughter, Esther Akayi and her husband, Mr Josiah Esla Victor in his home town Angiri, Kokona LGA today.
Dr. Jatau said that there is the need for Nigerians to embrace their culture for the unity and peace of the society.
According to him, I want to call on other ethnic groups in the country, let us sustain our culture by promoting it at all times.
” If we did not promote our culture, one day, we will woke up and see that our culture is gone (die)
The Speaker congratulated his daughter, Esther and the husband on their successful traditional wedding and wish them well.
” I want to congratulate my daughter, Esther and her husband on their successful traditional marriage.
” I am happy that the traditional marriage was done successfully,” he said.
He appreciated the people of his constituency for supporting him at all the times and called for its sustenance.
Beisdes, Jatau called on the people of his constituency and the state to continue to support Gov.Abdullahi Sule’s administration to succeed
” This is to enable His Excellency, continue with the good work he is doing for the state.
” As His Excellency work speaks for its self across the state in terms of education, agriculture, infrastructure, health, among others,” he said.
The Speaker appreciated his colleagues, Hon. members, traditional and religious leaders, personalities among other well wishers for attending his daughter traditional wedding and prayed God to grant them journey mercies to their various distinctions.
On his part Mr Josiah Esla Victor, the husband thanked God for their successful traditional wedding.
” Today, we are happy and overwhelmed that we have wedded traditionally,” he said.
