The Nigeria Police on Friday said they have arrested a woman over alleged plot for self kidnap in Nasarawa State.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said this during a media briefing in Abuja.

He said the suspect was arrested on Jan. 22 following report by his brother that she was kidnapped by unknown men.

According to him, after series of negotiation, which later settled at N100,000, the brother, on the same day, took the agreed sum to the agreed location.

“Upon getting to the location, he was met by the alleged kidnapped sister who came out to collect the money.

“The suspect was arrested upon realisation of the failed self-kidnap plot,” he said.

Adejobi said police operatives in Katsina State on Jan. 7, neutralised seven alleged kidnappers, rescued their victims, released over 200 rustled animals and recovered a motorcycle.

He said the alleged kidnappers were neutralised following a report that a group armed bandits attacked Baure village, in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

He said the armed bandits injured three persons, rustled over 200 animals and kidnap some people during the attack.

According to him, upon the receipt of the report, police operatives rushed to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle where seven of the armed men were neutralised.

“All the kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt and the hoodlums were forced to release the rustled animals with their motorcycle, recovered.

The police spokesman said joint operatives, consisting of the police and military personnel, on Jan. 7, recued some kidnapped victims in Kano State.

He said the alleged armed terrorists had blocked Sheme/Kankara Road by Mararaba village in Faskari Local Government Area of Kano State.

Adejobi said the terrorists opened fire on a moving Golf 3 Wagon with registration number, JEG 834 XA and abducted the passengers in the vehicle.

According to him, joint operatives, consisting of the police and military personnel combed the scene, engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and rescued all the four passengers unhurt.

He said a military personnel who was on transit sustained gunshot wound.

Adejobi said police operatives, on Jan. 16, rescued 10 kidnap victims and arrested two suspected kidnappers in Benue following credible intelligence.

He said a team of joint operatives had stormed a kidnappers hideout in Orokam Forest where the hoodlums, upon sighting the team engage them in a gun duel.

According to him, one of the kidnappers was fatally wounded and his AK49 riffle with breach No, 955860, loaded with seven rounds of ammunition recovered.

He said the two arrested suspects were identified by the victims as associates of the kidnappers who frequently visit them in the forest.
