The Rotary Club of Abuja, Central Business District(CBD), is initiating a project to construct two blocks of classrooms, including furniture and a Head Teacher’s office, in Nasarawa State.
The incoming President of the Club, Rotarian Lauratu Yenwan in a statement issued by the Image Chair of the Club, Evelyn Onyilo on Monday in Abuja, said the projects is estimated to cost N 25 million.
According to Yenwan, the club is embarking on a number of projects at its adopted community in Gidan Village of Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa.
“One of the Star projects to be completed in the new Rotary year which begins on July 1, will be the completion of the construction of two blocks of classrooms, furniture and head teacher’s office.
“The completion of the school project will provide a conducive learning environment for the pupils in line with one of Rotary’s area of focus which is basic education and Literacy.
“Other areas of intervention will be the distribution of sanitary pads to girls, refurbishment of the borehole hitherto provided by the Club to the community.
“Also, we will carry out tree planting campaigns as well as maternal and child health outreaches, economic empowerment of IDPs among others.
“About N 35 million is needed to execute the laudable projects and we appeal to kind spirited individuals to support and partner with the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD to realise the objectives.
“To this end a fund raising event has been slated for July 4 at the Shoprite Novare Central Office Park, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja at 4 p.m,” Yenwan said.
She further stated that a member of the House of Representatives, Dr Jeremiah Umaru is expected to be the Chairman of the occasion.
Yenwan added that a renowned journalist, Mr Paddy Ezeala would Speak on the theme: “Uniting for Good: Building a Better World, One Community at a Time”.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that, Yenwan is coming in as the 9th President of the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD, 2025-2026 Rotary Year,
She takes over from Rotarian Katherine Adamu.
The Rotary Club of Abuja CBD was Chartered by Rotary International on Nov. 25, 2016.
